Code of Practises

We are committed to responsible, ethical, social and environmental practices and to conducting our business in a transparent and accountable manner throughout the industry, from mine to retail.

Our principles, code of ethics, and management practices are fully aligned with and meet the expectations and standards of the Responsible Jewelry Council. We became a member of The Responsible Jewelry Council in 2009 and we will undergo certification against its standards before the end of 2011.

Business Ethics: we conduct all our activities in strict compliance with the national laws of countries in which we operate. We treat our employees with respect and expect complete honesty and transparency in our business dealings. We do not tolerate corruption.

Respect for our Neighbouring Communities: we develop our mines in a way that respects the culture of and fully integrates our neighbouring communities in our business as a point of competitive differentiation.

Protection of the Environment: we are committed to defending and protecting the environment in which we operate. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries where we work and our own high standards where they are more stringent. Our approach is to constantly improve our performance in environmental management and, where possible, go beyond required standards and make a positive impact by leaving our projects in better condition and with stronger natural systems than when we arrived.

Health and Safety: we are committed to a safe and healthy working environment for our employees by working to the highest international standards. Also, we provide health and safety training programme for our employees at the mine in order to prevent incidents on-site, with the objective to achieve a 'zero incident' facility. Additionally, we provide free 24 hour medical assistance to all our employees and their families.

Human Resources: we value our employees and therefore we actively contribute to the development of employees' skills through training programmes in management and administration.

Respect for Human Rights: we support the principles articulated in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and uphold these rights in our operations. Our local operations are expected to engage in open dialogue with neighbouring communities and their representatives - governmental and non-governmental - so as to ensure issues from our operations are anticipated, identified and managed before our employees or neighbours of the company are placed at risk.

Protection of Shareholder Value:
we aim to deliver economic and financial performance that provides an adequate return to our shareholders.
